Senegal 14

Every Tuesday is market day or Luma, in the town of Nioro in central Senegal. Farmers and merchants from surrounding towns and villages come early (some spending the night before) to set up. Grains, fruit, vegetables, cattle, sheep, plastic containers, new and used clothing are brought and sold. The lady in the front of the photo is carrying a water cannery or Ndaa which is used to store water and keep it cold through condensation. Retail value $2.50. Photo by Lee Hedrick.
